Simen Sez has always made beats. Since the age of sixteen, when he first got a bootleg copy of Fruity Loops, you could find him with a beat tape in hand. In high school his classmates used to complain about him tapping beats on his desk. In college he would fill his name in almost all of the studio slots so no one else had a chance to get in, even the ones during his class periods. They had to make a new rule where students could only book 4 slots a week. Since he graduated, Simen has built his own studio The Joint Recording with business partner Mike Naz and has worked with many artists and companies such as Run the Jewels, Lion Babe, Esperanza Spalding, Adidas, New Era, and Smirnoff. He has performed at Bonnaroo, and to sold out shows at both Brooklyn Bowl and Arlene's Grocery.
After all of these years Simen is releasing his first project, Technicolor. On November 12th, the release of his EP will be accompanied by an art show playing with projection, surface, and light. The pieces will be created by Simen and friends.
Over the next few months, his work will be released through a series of interactive projects, tangible materials and online experiences.
In all of this upcoming work, Simen provides well rounded treatments for his sound to communicate as broadened art, musical therapy and interdisciplinary grooves. He looks forward to sharing this with you all.
